Version 2026-08-25.1. Written to be read, not to be survived.

KNOW ME - SHOW ME holds some of the most personal material a person can write down — private thoughts, family history, and notes about people you love. This page says exactly what happens to it.

What we hold

What we may do

Book summaries and AI interpretations

The "Ask a Book" feature sends your question and selected passages to an AI model to generate a response. Any book summary, excerpt, or interpretation produced this way is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or faithful to the original text. It is not the author, publisher, or any religious, philosophical, or authoritative source speaking. Do not treat it as professional, medical, legal, safety, or spiritual advice, or as an instruction to do anything that could harm yourself or others.

For example, asking a religious text such as The Bible will return the AI's reading of a passage — not a sermon, doctrinal ruling, or divine command. If a book answer could affect your health, safety, money, legal rights, relationships, or wellbeing, check the original source and speak with a qualified professional before acting on it.

Your opt-out

You can switch on "Opt out of marketing targeting & research" in Settings at any time. When it is on, your data, entries and profile information are excluded from marketing targeting and research uses, where applicable by law. Your data is still used to run your vault and answer your questions — that is the service itself, not marketing or research.

What we do not do

Anonymity of questions

When you ask a FRIEND anonymously, your account is not stored beside the question at all. We keep a one-way fingerprint instead — enough for us to hand you back your own history, and useless to anyone holding a copy of the database, including the FRIEND. The FRIEND sees that a question was asked and what their AI replied, never your identity, unless you turned on sharing your name.

What staff can see when you ask for help

Nobody who works on KNOW ME - SHOW ME — including the app owner — has standing access to your vault. There is no "read member's entries" button. When you open a support request you choose what, if anything, may be opened: nothing at all, one entry, your last seven days, or the whole vault. Access is attached to that one request, expires on a clock you set, and you can revoke it in one tap from the banner that stays on screen the entire time it is live.

Whole-vault access can never be unlocked by one person: even after you grant it, the app owner must separately approve it. Every time a staff member opens anything, the read is recorded with their name, the scope and the number of entries, shown to you on your Support page, and sent to you as a notification. Closing a ticket revokes any access it carried.

Deleting an entry

Deleting moves an entry to your Trash for 30 days, where it is hidden from your AI, your FRIENDS, sharing and exports. You can restore it yourself, or destroy it immediately. After 30 days it is removed for good.

Encryption of private entries

Anything you mark private is scrambled before it is written down, with a key derived separately for each member and held only on our servers — never in the database beside your words. It is unscrambled only for you, and for your own AI when you coach yourself. A stolen copy of the database is unreadable without that key.

Who processes it

Lovable Cloud (database, auth, file storage)

Stores your account, entries, audio, images and answers.

What it sees: Everything you save, plus your email address.

Lovable AI Gateway (model providers)

Generates answers, transcribes audio, reads text in photos, and produces spoken audio.

What it sees: The text of the entries selected for a given answer, your question, and any audio or image you send in.

Email delivery

Sign-in confirmations, password resets and security alerts.

What it sees: Your email address and the alert text.

How long we keep it

Entries, audio, photosKept until you delete them. On closure you choose: destroyed 30 days after you close your account, or sealed and kept for your stewards and scheduled capsules.
A sealed vaultClosed to every new question, by you and by everyone else, and kept until you ask for a permanent erase.
Questions and AI answersKept so you can search your history; deletable individually.
Activity logKept for 12 months, then removed automatically.
NotificationsKept for 12 months.
Anonymous questions asked of youStored without any link back to the asker's identity.
BackupsRolling backups are overwritten within 30 days of a deletion.

Your controls

Closing your account: your two choices

Closing an account always does the same first thing: your vault stops answering. Your public profile switches off, FRIEND links stop working, and no new question can be asked of your AI by anyone, including you. What happens to the contents is your choice.

Delete everything

After a 30-day grace period — during which you can change your mind and export a copy — every entry, recording, photo, working profile, question, answer and your encryption key is destroyed permanently. Backups are overwritten within 30 days.

Seal the vault

Nothing is destroyed, but nothing new can be asked. Your words are kept so the stewards you named can still receive what you assigned them, and so time capsules you scheduled can still reach the people you wrote them for. You can reopen a sealed vault yourself at any time, and you can convert it to a permanent delete whenever you want.

Sealing is a retention choice, not a way around deletion rights. If you are covered by the GDPR, the CCPA or a similar law, a permanent erase request always wins — ask and we carry it out.
